The short answer
A Scope report has three parts. The Result tells you where you stand and who AI recommends instead, in a quick read. The Action plan is a checklist of fixes with the steps for each. Deep Dive holds the detail: every competitor, question, answer, source and fact, and how the audit was run. Every number traces back to a saved AI answer.
The Result: where you stand
The Result is built for a quick read, top to bottom:
- The headline: where you stand, in one line.
- The competitive picture and your key numbers: how often the assistants recommended you, each with its likely range.
- Where you were recommended: the questions and assistants where you came up.
- Your rivals: the top five businesses AI recommends, with your own rank, and a full ranking of up to 20. Businesses Scope didn't compare with you are listed under Not compared with you. If one isn't really a competitor, or one is missing, you can say so.
- Positioning checks: whether the answers place you where you'd expect, on price and beyond it.
On an audit with more than one market, a switch at the top moves the Result between All, your home market, any other market and the Worldwide sample. Need a market the audit didn't include? Check another market adds one to your latest audit for 2 credits.
From your second comparable audit, the Result also shows the trend.
The Action plan: what to fix
The Action plan is a checklist, most important fix first. Each fix says in one sentence what to change and why, which customer questions it covers and roughly how long it takes. Choose Start fix 1 and Scope takes you through three steps:
- Open your page: the page to change, or where to add a new one.
- Make the change: the text Scope wrote, with blanks for the facts only you know. Edit the page yourself, or choose Send it to my developer.
- I've published this: Scope books a re-check of the questions behind the fix. About a week later it asks them again and emails you the result.
Each fix shows its status: To do, In progress, Re-check booked (with the date), then Improved or No change yet.
Deep Dive: the evidence
Deep Dive has six sections, each answering one question:
| Section | What it answers |
|---|---|
| Competitors | Who AI recommends, by assistant, head-to-head with you, and why they seem to win |
| Questions | Which customer questions you win and lose, and where you were recommended |
| Answers & sources | What each assistant said, and the sites AI reads |
| Facts | Whether the answers use your facts, and get them right |
| Changes | What moved since the last audit |
| How we measure | How the audit was run |
A link on the Result opens the matching Deep Dive section, and Back to Result returns you to the same place.
Sharing it with a client
Any paid plan can share a read-only link to the report. PDF export is included on Growth, Studio and Agency. On Studio and Agency the PDF and the client link can carry your logo with Scope's branding removed (white-label), and What your client sees lets you choose which sections the client link shows.
Why the numbers come with ranges
Rates are shown as whole percentages with a likely range, because a precise figure over a few dozen answers claims more certainty than the sample has. If two months' ranges overlap heavily, treat them as roughly the same. The methodology page explains how movement is judged.
What this can't tell you
- The report shows a dated sample of AI answers. It doesn't predict what assistants will say next.
- A re-check shows what the answers said after a change. It can't prove the change caused it.
Sources
Primary sources first. Research papers are cited with their limits. Every source was re-opened on the date shown.
